Economic Advantages of RV Vacationing
posted by Terry @ 1:30pm, Tuesday 13 March 2012.
Despite rising gas prices, vacationing in an RV can still be a cheaper alternative to other forms of travel. A recent study shows that gas prices would have to exceed $15 per gallon before a travel trailer would loose its economic advantage. With all the savings built into an RV a family of four can save 23-59 percent by traveling in an RV instead of flying, renting a car, and staying in a hotel. While rising fuel costs will affect the travel cost in an RV, it also impacts airline ticket prices and the expense of a rental car, and unlike other forms of travel RVers have the ability to control some of their costs.
- Save gas by traveling to spots close to home.
- Enjoy the great outdoors by hiking, bike riding, or fishing instead of costly entertainment venues.
- Instead of staying at RV resorts pick a low cost camping site.
- Optimize your fuel efficiency by driving 55 and keeping little fluids in your holding tanks.
- Use your RV kitchen to cook your own meals instead of dining out.
Rent an RV for Vacation!

So you are thinking about renting a recreational vehicle (RV)? If you do, you will be joining a growing trend of nationwide travelers.
Because RVs allow you the freedom to pursue a wide variety of leisure outdoor activities, the reasons people rent them are equally diverse.
Some people want to enjoy an RV trip without making the large capital investment needed to purchase a unit. An investment in any RV is a major one and should only be made if you are sure you will get enough use out of a unit to justify owning it. There is no yardstick for what this point might be; it is a matter of individual preference. Here's an estimate: If you will use a unit less than 10 nights a year, or will travel fewer than 5,000 miles annually, you might be better off renting.
Many people rent a vehicle to see if they really enjoy RVing before making a purchase decision. Taking an extended trip or a camping vacation is especially advisable before deciding upon purchasing a unit. Some vacationers prefer to fly to some far away destination, then rent an RV once there. It's possible to find a rental dealer anywhere in the U.S. and Canada.
Families planning to travel with children find that rental RVs offer advantages over other types of trips. RVs offer advantages over automobile travel especially on long trips. Large windows make motorhomes ideal family touring vehicles for scenic drives. Close on hand are a refrigerator filled with beverages and a private toilet room. It is easy for the driver to pull over onto a road shoulder or onto a driveway to let passengers have access to any of these amenities.
Renting a unit permits many people to transport a group to special events, like festivals and sporting events, and enjoy a tailgate party while there. Persons with physical disabilities will find RV travel less stressful than packing and unpacking, checking into and out of lodgings, searching for restaurants and negotiating airline terminals or train stations.
Finally, many overseas visitors to the U.S. find touring in a rental RV to be an ideal way to see and experience our vast country.
You may want to rent an RV for any of the above reasons. Or, you may have one of your own. That's the beauty of the RV lifestyle.
Our motor homes are late model, fully equipped units. They range in size from small popup campers to 31 feet in towables, 23-31 foot Class C's, up to luxury 40 foot diesel pushers. Most units are equipped with at least one room slide-out for increased space and comfort. All of our motor homes are furnished with basic necessities, such as dishes, pots/pans, coffee maker, linens, and much more. So what it comes down to is you will spend more time enjoying your vacation and less time packing and fretting whether or not you remembered the can opener! We also offer, with advanced notice, pick up and delivery service for your rental, to and/or from your destination, or for you, to and/or from the airport. As the weather starts to get hot, we begin thinking of escaping to the cool mountains.
High above the sweltering heat, Queen Wilhelmina State Park is a cool island perched half a mile above the sea and a quarter of a mile above the surrounding valley.
Relaxing in a campsite here atop Arkansas's second highest peak has its own special rewards.
A park campsite is your front row seat to
all this natural beauty. Choose from 35 Class B campsites with water and
electricity, and five Tent sites with water hookups. In addition, the park
campground offers one Walk-in tent site. The campground includes a modern
bathhouse with hot showers. A trailer dump station is located at the entrance
to the campground. Campsites are available by reservation or a on a first-come
basis. However, it is necessary to register at the park lodge before occupying
a campsite. All sites are assigned.
The Ouachita Mountains are Arkansas's southernmost mountain range; to the north lie the Ozarks. The Ouachitas are one of only two mountain regions in the U.S. that run east/west. While visiting Queen Wilhelmina State Park join the programs and guided hikes led by the park interpreter and learn more about this fascinating landscape. Learn about the trees and wildflowers that grow here. Wildlife viewing opportunities abound here, too. Raccoons, deer, skunks, rabbits, and even black bear live in these mountains. This is a special place for birdwatching enthusiasts, too.
Visit Lover's Leap and take in the breathtaking view from this legendary overlook.
The park is surrounded by the Ouachita National Forest, so more hiking adventures can be enjoyed in the national forest, too. The Ouachita National Recreation Trail can be accessed here at the park. Stretching 223 miles through the Ouachita Mountains of Arkansas and Oklahoma, this premier trail is enjoyed by hikers, backpackers, mountain bikers, and hunters. It is a non-motorized, single track trail open to foot traffic and only partially to mountain biker. It lies primarily in the Ouachita National Forest administered by the USDA Forest Service. Shelters for camping are spaced along the trail.
In the park is a small playground for children. The park offers a volleyball court, too.
At the park, you can also ride the miniature train and play miniature golf at the Southern Belle Depot. Admission fees apply at these two attractions.
The City of Mena, just 13 miles east of the park, offers a city park with two spring-fed ponds to enjoy. In the heart of the park stands a historic cabin. A block from the city park is the old Kansas City Southern depot featuring a train museum and the offices of the Mena/Polk County Chamber of Commerce. Several antique shops are located downtown. Near Mena are Lum & Abner's Jot-Em-Down Store, the Little Missouri Falls, Cossatot River State Park-Natural Area, and other area attractions.
The park hosts a many special events including the Butterfly Festival, the Mountainfest craft show and Christmas on the Mountain. Join the fun at the seasonal offerings hosted at Queen Wilhelmina State Park. With the park's panoramic mountain scenery, it's the perfect getaway to enjoy the seasonal natural beauty Arkansas, too.
